GENERAL ENGLISH courses
levels: Beginning, Intermediate, Advanced

These are integrated-skills courses in which students will develop their skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking in English. Students will enhance their vocabulary and improve their pronunciation, learn to write with accuracy and effectiveness. They will review grammar concepts and apply these grammar concepts through a variety of activities. Students will also learn about American culture. We teach our students practical real-world English so they can use English inside and outside the classroom. Our classes are small so topics can be customized to students’ needs and interests.

SPECIAL SKILLS courses:
These courses are intended for students who would like to focus on specific language skills such as conversation, writing, grammar, pronunciation, etc. Specialized English courses are a great compliment to our General English courses, but could also be taken separately.

Conversation: Everyday English
levels:  Intermediate
This course focuses on the appropriate vocabulary; correct pronunciation; and basic grammar that the beginning English speaker needs to live in the United States and communicate in everyday situations. In this class students will learn survival English. There will be a strong emphasis on speaking and conversational skills. Students will learn typical American expressions and practice these new expressions through dialogues and role-play activities. Students make suggestions for the class topics so lessons will be customized to accommodate the students’ needs and interests.

Grammar: The Structure of English
levels:  Intermediate
This course will help students improve grammatical accuracy in spoken and written English. In this class students will explore such topics as sentence structure, word order, parts of speech, and verb tenses. Students will review the rules of English grammar. Grammar topics will be customized to the needs and interests of the students. During this course students will also discuss and apply grammar structures in speaking and writing activities. Common grammar mistakes will be identified and corrected.

From Reading to Writing
levels: High-Intermediate to Advanced
This course will help students improve their English proficiency through extensive reading and writing. Students will learn about current events by reading and discussing magazine and newspaper articles. This class will engage students to learn more about American culture and society by reading articles on various national and international topics. Students will use writing strategies taught in class to complete writing activities such as journals, summaries and essays that reflect ideas from the articles discussed in class.

American Conversation
levels: High-Intermediate to Advanced
In this class students will improve speaking and listening skills. Students will learn typical vocabulary and will develop confidence and fluency in English. Greater emphasis is put on fine-tuning conversation skills and developing strategies for listening, speaking and interacting with native speakers. Activities include class discussions, role-plays and dialogues. Students will gain insight into American culture, customs and manners. Students make suggestions for the class topics so lessons will be customized to accommodate the students’ needs and interests.

TOEFL Exam Preparation
levels: High-Intermediate to Advanced

Students will learn the skills and strategies to master the TOEFL exam.
